One of the blessings of having a food blog is that I occasionally get to try new products. That is something which I truly enjoy. I was recently sent a selection of Yushoi Snapea Rice Sticks to try out and I have to say I was pretty excited to receive them. I am always on the look out for a healthy snack to indulge in. I quite like potato crisps, but they're not really all that good for you are they . . . these looked to be a lot healthier.
Yushoi Snapea Rice Sticks are baked, free from nuts and dairy, suitable for vegetarians and vegans, high in protein and fibre and have no artificial colours, flavourings or MSG…. and there are less than 99 calories per bag or per serving! Incredible but true!

They have employed the Traffic Light Health signals on the front so that you can know from the get go what you are eating. All are low in saturates, and sugars, moderate with salt and only the Soy & Balsamic Vinegar, Smoked Salt & Szechuan Pepper, and SweetChili & Lemon have a red light on fat., but even that is relatively low in comparison to a lot of other crispy snacks.
Green Peas are used in all of them. which makes them a great source of healthy protein and fibre. You really can't taste the peas except for very slightly in the lightly salted ones, but it is not at all unpleasant.
Overall they were very enjoyable and I was quite pleased to find a low fat snack that is not only crisp and moreish, but high in fibre and protein, so that when I choose to indulge myself in a crispy snack, I can choose something which is not only tasty, but not that bad for me. No empty calories . . . but when worked into a healthy diet and in moderation are actuallyquite healthy. If you are going to eat something . . . you might as well make it count for something good.
Overall I would give these delicious snacks a ten out of ten.
They are available in four flavours and can be purchases online via the Yushoi Website or at Wholefoods, Selfridges, the Co-operative, Morrisons, WH Smith, Tesco, Ocado and Amazon.
